Dr Omer Javed in his latest contribution for this newspaper titled "Managing growth with stabilisation" has offered a workable suggestion to the incumbent government. According to him, the PM and the economic team should try to renegotiate the IMF programme, seeking to lower the emphasis on the two policy instruments. Secondly, he adds, "the imbalance needs to be corrected in terms of bringing more emphasis n the aggregate supply-side. This should happen both in the programme, and the overall policy emphasis of the government."
No doubt, his is a very well structured argument amid reports that stabilisation measures will exacerbate or deepen economic slowdown.
